Here at Simple Broadband we like BT Broadband products. This is borne out of experience - we have BT here in the office and, I (one of the main product reviewers) have BT Total Broadband Option 1 at home. It is not quite the cheapest broadband in the UK but, unless you really want to go for the lowest cost option, BT Broadband should be on most people's shortlist.
I have 3 reasons I would recommend it...
- you are dealing with the 'big guy'. Most broadband providers are simply reselling the BT service - this means if you have a problem (if this happens it normally is at the installation stage) then you can often get stuck in the middle of a finger pointing exercise. You call the ISP and say you have a problem... they say it must be the telephone line... you call BT and they say there is nothing wrong with the line... you call ISP back and they say there must be something wrong with the telephone line etc etc. With BT Broadband the service is on a BT phone line - if there is a problem they have no place to hide!! This is good news for you.
- Customer service is excellent. When I first got BT Total Broadband at home the speed was very very slow - I called BT and, guess what - there was a problem with the line! The level of service from the BT call centres (which were all round the world) was first class at all times of the day and night. Problem was fixed with a minimum of fuss.
- The product range is impressive - fast speed, sensible usage options and very reasonable prices.
